Because I do not

have the impetus to do it myself


I will leave the bulbs

burning bright


and diligently change

them when they expire


I will bankrupt myself

mentally

physically

financially

to keep them on


a lighthouse

warning others away

from these jagged rocks


but to you a beacon

guiding you

back home


so if you have

no intention

of returning

then please

turn them off

before you go

because

I never will.
